20 January 2012
After the first Bulgarian Centre in Pert became a reality on the 3rd of January 2012 we need to make a good use of its premises and the outdoor area.
As per the lease agreement with the City of Bayswater the premises can be used from 8 am until 9 pm and only for a range of activities such a library, a museum, BG zamimalnia, dance and other classes, workshops, gatherings, events, meetings etc. However, the centre can not be used as a bar/restaurant/cafe or bistro. A library with books in Bulgarian or in English about Bulgaria will be open in February.
The committee is asking for books, CDs and DVDs to be donated towards the existing collection. A catalogue will be published on the website by the end of February. The BG Zanimalnia "Mnogoznaiko" will start its activities in mid February. All kids age 4+ are warmly welcome to attend. The classes will run fortnightly, day and time to be confirmed. The aim of these activities is all kids to be able to speak Bulgarian. In addition reading, writing, dancing and art lessons will be offered. The kids interested will be part of the special programs organised to celebrate the 24th of May and the Christmas and New Year.

3 November 2011
The President of "Rodina" and Fil Hazarliev met with the Director of Administration and Recreation on the 3td of November. A few options about the offices in the RISE were discussed. A letter from "Rodina" to the Council of Bayswater was submitted on 4 November ( see attachment below), asking the Council to consider peppercorn rent for an year. Tanya was invited to attend the Councillors meeting in November, when a decision about the office spaces would be made.
The Bayswater Council met on Monday, 3 October 2011. Last week the Committee received a letter from the Council. It says that a ranged of options in relation to the community office have been considered and the Council has determined a minimal rental figure of $113 per square meter per year. "In light of the above information I would ask you to consider the exclusive use of office five. Office five provides 47 sqm but does not offer kitchen facilities. Based on the above minimal rental figure office five would be available subject to Council approval at a rental of $5311 per year. Please advice by 4 November should you wish to progress your application." Rodina's application for making a use of one of the community rooms in The RISE, Maylands as a Bulgarian Club, has been submitted.
Grant applications were submitted with the City of Belmont and the Community Arts Network WA (CANWA). The Belmont Council will discuss our application during its next meeting in October. An outcome regarding our CANWA application is expected at the beginning of December.
